Last week I was in our local shopping centre when my mother noticed a box of silver and pearl brooches in the chemists. We'd been looking for something just like it to cover a small worn patch on a black jumper. It was free so we took one each without paying too much attention to why the chemist was giving them away.
The brooches are actually part of the Pearl of Wisdom European Cervical Cancer Prevention Week, which takes place this week, 22-28 January 2017. So ladies, please take some time this week to find out where you can get a smear test, register for one, and put the date in your diary.
In Ireland, the Irish National Cervical Screening Programme has all the details on its website, and the test is free in Ireland. You can also call the Irish Freephone number 1800 45 45 55 or look at their Facebook page.
